L.O.V.E ❤️🌹

14th February… 4pm (ish)

Opening my bedroom door to an array of hearts, heart decorations hanging from the ceiling, on the bed, floor and every other conceivable area it seems… Easily one of the most thoughtful things anyone has ever done for me…

Fast forward ten or so years… And today’s setting is just a tad different- a pit stop in ‘The Savoy’ amongst a day of work but not for a romantic brunch… Instead to take shelter from the pouring rain… But then what else should I expect as I’m donning my faux fur jacket that always predicts rain when I wear it…

Today; 14th February may just be any other day to you, but then again it may count as Valentine’s the one day of the year where being ‘soppy’ and extra loving is forgiven no matter what your age, gender or shoe size!

I’ve spent mine in a variety of ways throughout the years, asides from the hugely romantic gesture mentioned at the beginning and the (verrrryy occasional) rose and card here and there; albeit mainly single.

Last year was arguably one of the most interesting when I found myself on an unofficial date with Fulham FC’s Mascot Billy the Badger as we gave out roses & sweets to the fans at half time… Proof that even football grounds hold no barriers to romance come the 14th.

So I may have mentioned a couple of my most memorable but truth be told I still enjoy Valentine’s no matter what my status…

It may sound sad, I will let you be the judge of that but I do love seeing a friend’s delight when they receive an unexpected gift, and not just friends’ even the glow of a stranger’s face as they carry their roses home wondering who the mystery sender may be…

I do get the argument that Valentine’s is purely commercial and of course we can celebrate love whenever we want but isn’t it nice to have a day in the calendar where some L.O.V.E exceptions seem to be lifted!

Just an hour ago I saw a girl bending down and tying her boyfriend’s shoe lace- forgive me if I’m wrong but I doubt it’s a regular habit…

Happy Valentine’s!❤️🌹❤️

Lots of love,

Lucy Ellen xx
